A crowd of roughly 5,000 people congregated at Tsuklakhang this morning at 8AM in observance of World Prayer Day organized by Tibetan Solidarity Committee (TSC). His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Gyalwa Karmapa, Gyaltsab Rinpoche, abbot of Gyuto and Gyuermey monastery, abbot of Namgyal monastery, many high trulkus and lamas, and head of the three pillars of the Tibetan Government in Exile all attended to participate in the mass prayer presided by His Holiness for the first hour of the 8-hours prayer today. Prayer's objective was to pray for all the lives lost in the recent brutal clampdown by the Chinese government on peaceful Tibetan demonstrators. This prayer is happening in all corners of the world to pray for a quick and peaceful resolution to the current crisis. Many students of both upper and lower TCV took part in the mass prayer. April 6, 2008 With objective of informing wider Indian audience, the TSC Delhi Chapter has launched a moving street play, which will cover all the busy public places in Delhi. The play entitled "Where is India in the current Tibetan crisis" in Hindi language was staged for the first time today at 6 pm in the CP Central Park area. 20 Latuls (high reincarnate lamas) & Khenpo (abbots) attend the mass prayer: Conforming to the global circular from TSC, Nepal Tibetan Solidarity Committee invited Latuls and Khenpos to grace today’s prayer congregation. 20 Latuls and Khenpos graced the congregation with over 2,000 participants. Starting at 8 AM, tsok (food offering) was made at which all 3 Chithues (MPs) and the Chief Coordinator attended. Pokhara, Nepal - A candle light vigil (Marme Trongkor) was held in the evening at the famous Fewa Lake that attracts the most Tourist and visitors. Around 400 people took part with placards and Appeals.
North-East India - Peace Prayers in North-east India As Tibetans worldwide observed 'Peace Prayer Day' on April 6, 2008, Tibetans in the north-eastern part of India also observed the same in their respective settlements with mass Puja (prayer) dedicated to all the brave souls who have sacrificed their life and to the success of the peaceful activities that is carried out under the leader of Tibetan Solidarity Committee. Italy- Pro Tibet protest and Prayers in Italy Rome, April 6, 2008 2:00 PM - Tibetans in Italy yesterday protested in front of the Chinese embassy where slogans stop killing in Tibet were shouted. Protester showed pictures of monks arrested and Tibetans killed in Tibet. One minute of silence was observed for the Tibetans killed and 30 minutes of mantra of Dolma was recited. A very tight police control was posted and protesters are kept some meters away from Chinese embassy gate. The president of Tibetan Community in Rome read H.H the Dalai Lama's speech to the Chinese in Chinese language. The consulate's gate remained close at all times. The protest concluded with singing of the Tibetan National Anthem. Rome, 5:30 PM - Tibetans and around five hundred Italians walked a peaceful march from Piazza Navona to Piazza Venezia in the central Rome. Large numbers of monks and nuns from Tibetan Buddhist Tsongkapa institute of Pomai led the march with recitation of prayers. Banners calling for end of the violence and freedom in Tibet was heard everywhere with Tibetan flags flying everywhere in the back. Thousands of tourists witnessed the protest and many applauded the marchers on their way. The protest concluded in front of the UN office where thirty minutes of recitation of mantras was carried out. At the end, the President of Tibetan community of Italy called that Tibet will be free and it is a matter of time. The Tibetans who have died and those protesters in Tibet will have great significance and respect in the history of Tibetan struggle for freedom. While the protest and march in Rome was carrying out, many Tibetans and Italians simultaneously gathered in Milan for a whole day of prayer at Tibetan Buddhist center Ghephe Ling. Videos of Rome protest Dharamsala - Over a hundred people gathered at Lhabsoeri for sangsol. Relay hunger strike continues in Dharamsala outside of Tsuklakhang, which will hit its one month next week. Other recent activities were gathering of all school students at Tsuklakhang for consecutive candle light vigils, mass prayer day. Three student representing three different TCV schools addressed the gathering of four to five thousand crowd, who were mainly students and staffs of Tibetan Children Village schools from Lower TCV, Upper TCV, and Gopalpur. They spoke in three different languages: Tibetan, Hindi and English. Thereafter, Kalon Tripa also addressed the gathering and the press conference. The following evening, roughly 3000 people participated in the candle light procession. Students spend over night praying whole night for all the deaths from the recent crackdown by the Chinese government on peaceful demonstrators. Thousands of butter lamps were lit throughout the whole weekend in prayer and memory of all the recent victims of the crisis in Tibet. Mainpat - Mainpat Tibetan Solidarity committee successfully completed their twenty-four hours hunger strike. Peaceful protest march was carried out in the town of Bilaspur. They hold candle light vigils on daily basis.
