Nepal -


Third Day of 24 hour Relay Fasting in Solidarity with Tibetans in Tibet: 

The third group took over the third day of the fasting relay. The group consisted of 72 participants of whom 18 were monks from Bonpo Monastery. Since we have now entered into the third day without any major hindrance, we will try to maintain this as long as possible. Henceforth, the number of participants will be maintained around 50 and 60.

Tibetans youths arrested : 
115 Tibetans were arrested outside the Chinese visa Section building and taken to Maharajganj police station while 11 were taken to Kamal Pokhari police station and 13 to Amnanagar police station. No violence was reported. One group of detainees was released later around 9PM and the other a little later. In a separate incident, it was reported that 4 young Tibetans just managed to run away on their bikes after sticking papers on the Chinese Embassy walls. However, police saw them and as they jumped on their bikes to get away, the two on a bike were left behind trying to start the bike. Police managed to catch up with two boys where one of the boys was hit on his head and the other on his mouth and cheek. Both managed to escape in the end. The event seems to have taken place past midnight of 14th around 2AM. We have been told that the injured have been medically treated.

Dharamsala -  

1. 15th April 2008: Over a hundred people gathered at Lhabsoeri for sangsol. 
2. Relay hunger strike continued.  
3. Private office organized special prayers to recite Chenresig Jigten Wangchuk
4. In the evening around 2000 people participated in the candle light peace procession.
5. Continued to offer thousand butter lamps for all those who died in the recent killings in Tibet. 

 

Parma, Italy -
The Italian city of Parma stands for Tibet

The famous northern city of Parma known for its rich artistic centre and tradition of Italian cuisines dedicated a day of Solidarity with Tibet.

The President of Tibetan community in Italy met the Mayor Pietro Vignali, Vice Mayor  Paolo Buzzi and President of the Province of Parma. Tibetan community President Dr. Thupten Tenzin offered Tibetan national flag to all respective leaders.

In his support the Mayor said, “From different parts of the world there are strong message to the Chinese authority to immediately stop the repression in Tibet and to listen to the demands of the Tibetan people who demonstrated through non-violent protests. We also appeal the Chinese govt. We have to support firmly rights of all people, rights for freedom, democracy and justice for which we have struggled in our history. Besides the question the boycotting the Olympic games, Italian govt in first support firmly Tibetan cause and contribute to the end of exile of H.H Dalai Lama”.

In the evening at one of the most famous theatre of Italy, “Teatro di Reggio” of Parma an open public conference was held. The representatives of major religious tradition of city of Parma expressed their support to Tibetan peoples struggle. The Tibetan community President thanked the city for the support and pleaded international as crucial for the non-violent struggle of the Tibetan people.

The Mayor gave the Seal of the city of Parma in the hand of Tibetan community President to hand over to H.H the Dalai Lama as a sign of respect and recognition from the city of Parma to the testimony of peace and liberty that Tibetan people offers to the world. On the back of the seal reads, “From the city of Parma to H.H the Dalai Lama and Tibetan people for their testimony for freedom”

The seal of the city is normally conferred to political and religious authorities, conferring of the seal of city of Parma to H.H the Dalai Lama signify recognition of Tibetan govt in exile by the administration of Parma.

Mr. Pino Agnetti, a journalist and writer in Parma, prompted this support of Parma for His Holiness and the Tibetan people.
