The Solidarity actions around the world in the support of present crisis in Tibet.

New Delhi- Demonstrations around the world in support of Tibetans inside Tibet All 43 members of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPiE) sat on a day-long hunger strike on Parliament Street in solidarity with the Tibetans peacefully protesting in Tibet and protest against the brutal crackdown by the Chinese authorities. A press conference was also held at the venue at 11.30 AM. Both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of TPiE presented the current plight of the Tibetan movement to the press.

Indian Parliament members Mohan Singh (MP Lok Sabha), Mr. Bashisht Narain Singh (MP, Rajya Sabha), Smt Jayaben B Thakkar (MP Lok Sabha), Mr. Khiren Rijiju (MP Lok Sabha) and Thupten Chewang (MP Lok Sabha) also participated in the press conference. Mr. George Fernandes, former Defense Minister and MP of Lok Sabha attended the press conference and issued a press release in support of the Tibetan struggle. Ms. Jaya Jaitley and Swami Agnivesh both former MPs and Social Activist also made statements to the press. Dr. Tint Swe, Burmese MP in Exile issued a strong statement to the press in support of the Tibetan movement.

During the course of the day-long hunger strike, many Indian politicians and social activists came to show their solidarity. Prominent among them were Nakul Das Rai (MP Lok Sabha), Mr. R S Rawat (MP Lok Sabha), Mr. Arun Kumar Sharma (MP , Lok Sabha), Mr. MA Kharabela Swain (MP Lok Sabha), Mr. Surinder Kumar of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, Dr. Trikha, Core Group for Tibet and Mr. Kuldeep Agnihotri of Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch.

The day long hunger strike ended with Mr. Bashist Narain Singh (MP and Convenor of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet) offering juice to the Speaker and all other members of the TPiE. The day concluded with a candle light vigil. The Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in exile addressed the gathering which included the Tibetan public who had been on peaceful protest and relay hunger strike since March 10, 2008.
